  • Thanks to 21 large vents and Giro's Wind Tunnel technology, channels inside the Ionos that force air in and out, this lid is 15% cooler than Giro's previous best-vented lid. Comments:

I've had my Ionos for a year and a half and love the fit and comfort. Vents are big and it comes with an inner for cold mornings. I crashed at 20+ MPH in the Manhattan Beach GP 2009 Cat 4 race and the helmet compressed at the back, so no concussion and felt very safe in it. I'll be buying another this week.

      Super Quality Helmet

        Comments:

I looked at several other helmets in this price range and they all felt flimsy and cheaply made to me. The Ionos feels very well-made and is lightweight, but does not feel quite as light as some of the alternatives. However, if you are not counting every gram and appreciate well-made stuff then I would recommend. The Ionos is very comfortable and very nicely finished inside and out - much less exposed foam than other helmets. The only downside I see is that the straps are not removable (like many other helmets now), so cleaning them will be a little more difficult. It is not a cheap helmet, but I feel like it is still a good value in a high-end helmet due to its design and build quality.

          Comments:

OK -- I don't skimp on headgear, and this helmet was not cheap. Last weekend I crashed hard, hitting my head on a curb after my front tire flatted. The helmet absorbed the hit, buckling in three places. Yes, I had a concussion, but there is no doubt form those who saw what happened that I would not be writing this today had I not been wearing it. I will buy another.

This helmet is a wonderful example of getting your moneys worth... and it's expensive so that says it all right there! It looks good, feels great, and after going horizontal in Colorado... over the hill and through the woods... the helmet kept my egg safe. I would sell my first child (he's a slacker actually) rather than ride without one of these nut covers.

                Comments:

I ride on/road and mt.bikes, I ride both road bikes with friend and alone once a week. The helmet fits perfectly with the included liner. The liner is designe to fit perfectly over the padding. The rear adjustment tabs make fit perfect. you can tell that this is a top of the line helmet by the way it fits and looks. without the liner it feels a little loose. I will probably have to make a few adjustments to get it to fit perfectly without the insert. This helmet flows huge air. Even with the additional liner I feel the air flow. I will probably use the liner until the weather warms up. The Ionos the best helmet I ever had for fit, air flow and looks. the carbone likes uber cool. and is probably is mega strong. If you can afford it, it is probably the greatest helmet available for us mortals.
