I have a very bad back. Walking long distance used to be my exercise of choice, but I can't do that now due to severe pain. The Sun bike is a great way to strengthen my legs, get aerobic exercise and have fun at the same time. I find it very comfortable and it doesn't stress my back at all.
I bought this trike because I had a strength and flexibility issue in my thigh after cancer. I usually road with my wife around a five mile square block in the country where we live on fairly level blacktop. I wanted to continue riding after the cancer and thought this bike was the answer. Was I ever mistaken. First of all, the bike is too heavy to use any kind of carrier if we wanted to ride somewhere besides our local area. It is slow!!! I don't ride for speed, but when I couldn't come close to keeping up with my wife, I knew something was wrong. Even as my strength returned, I wasn't able to keep up. The seat was not as comfortable as I would have expected, and the handle bars never did feel like they were in the right position. After 1 1/2 seasons of trying to mke this huge expense work for me I finally sold it. Took a real beating on it, too. It seems there are a lot more of them on the market than I thought.
I am retired and enjoy this bike. I try to ride 10 miles every day. I have had no problems with this bike at all. I bought this bike in 2004 and did not really start riding it until this year when I retired. It is well made. A good bike for easy riding. I could care less about speed. It is very comfortable to sit back and ride and enjoy the scenery.
I live 50 yards off the bike path so transportation is not an issue but I see where it could be. Since riding I have lost weight and enjoy the ride in comfort. Due to bad neck this takes the pressure off my arms and neck. I love looking up and around. My concern for me since I'm a big guy was the hills but gear it down and spin. If you desire to be competitive and fast this is not the ride . But just to enjoy a good long ride this is excellent.
