I am sorry for the people that don't like the shifting. My husband adjusted mine and it shifts great. You might need to take it to the dealer and have it tuned a little bit. The seat kind of hurts, but I just have to get used to it. I am really enjoying it. I love the happy orange color.

If you are just going to tool around town for 10 or 15 minutes this bike is okay. But I think it is way over priced for how rough the gears shift and how easy the chain comes off

I bought the Townie for myself to celebrate a significant birthday. I have been very happy with this bike. I ride it every evening and the 7 speed is perfect for the Midwest suburban streets. It shifts easily. The wide seat is comfy and looks good in hot pink. Wide tires are sturdy and give me a lot of confidence. I like the fact that this is a one-size-fits-all bike and is easy to dismount and stop abruptly, if necessary.

My salesperson really listened to my needs to identify what I would like. My family and I were on Mackinac Island in Michigan and rode rental bikes two days straight. I never felt and comfortable and confident and it was because of the bike! The rental was a different brand but after describing the experience to my salesperson, he took me over to the array of Electras with flat foot technology. I am on my bike all the time now and loving it! I only wish they would make a ladies bike in black or steel grey since that's more my color style. I got the green which is very cool. The styling and accessories are fun too as well as the Electra Facebook page etc which makes you part of the Electra community.

After having some difficulty adjusting to a "teetering" urban-style bike, [...] store manager suggested I test ride a Townie ...voila! LOVE it! This bike is so comfortable to ride. Its Flat Foot Technology allows the rider to feel stable and confident. This positioning, plus comfortable seat and wider tires easily make this the best bike I've ever ridden. The 7 Speed gear option is perfect for our flat terrain and additional features like handbrakes and optional fenders make Townie a solid ride you'll enjoy for years!Kudos to [...] excellent staff too who really cared about my satisfaction.

I love this bike! It's a very comfortable ride. Your feet can touch the ground easily and the design of the bike makes it easy on knees. I wanted a bike to ride around the neighborhod with my kids, but once I started riding, I realized it was a great way to exercise. I started with a department store bike but it didn't hold up to daily riding. The Townie is a million times better, I wish I had bought it a year ago. I rode to school with my kids this morning and they kept having to yell, "Mom, wait up!" instead of the other way around. This bike makes riding feel fun and effortless. It feels very safe being able to put my feet down on the ground when I stop, which is really important when you're riding with little kids who sometimes make unexpected, sudden stops.

I purchased this gem after riding every cruiser type bike in Sacramento. For me, the truth is in how a bike feels. The Townie 7D is a plush easy ride, yet easily covers ground for me to commute, ride to the grocery store, or just toodle around town and the American River bike trail. I added fenders, a rack, and a front basket. I could ride this bike all day, and often refrain from driving my car all weekend!

Have had the Electra Townie 7D for almost a month and have ridden it more than I had for the last three years combined! Commuting to work, cruising the bike baths, or riding to town to find ice scream, this bike handles it all with grace and style. It's so comfortable, it can take bumps along the way, and I can sit up without having to crouch over the handle bars. Having the pedals slightly forward helps. Having the gears is a must where I live, and it makes this bike a true "all-around town" bike.
